I see the leaves, they wave at me
and flutter high, not aimlessly
The wind will gust, and leaves, they must
release from branches and be free.

I find that place so near the sky
that causes leaves, by me, to fly
The sunny filter, is not off kilter,
enhances brilliance, way up high

And on the ground the children play
kicking up leaves, throughout the day
Their smiles of wonder, with leafy plunder
expects the best, along the way

My mom’s favorite poem is about a tree. I think that I shall never see a poem lovely as a tree…
I love trees, and I love how that poem expresses that nothing man made can compare to “creation” by God. Appreciating those who see God in their environment, instead of seeing danger and destruction, is where I want to be.

Today I had to sweep the deck, the leaves were all a flutter

I swept it clean and very soon, my deck was smooth as butter

The wind was blowing with me and whichever way I moved,

At my back, the wind assist was there, my faith it proved.

“Who has seen the wind”?, it’s prayer that gives our answer

and still directs “ballet of leaves”, Oh Lord, how great a dancer.
