Ditch the climate change propaganda
Recently my sister was visiting a friend in California. She said that they had lots to talk about and that there was no shortage of topics but that at one point over the weekend, the friend said something about the unusual weather adding “this is for all those who do not believe in climate change, because it is real”.
My sister said that up until that point there had been no controversy even though my sister is a conservative and this girl is a liberal. But what was interesting to me was that this person decided to say something divisive, when she knew that my sister was not of that mindset, not to provide information or have an open exchange of ideas, but rather just to “jab”. In my opinion, to do such, in a closed atmosphere, where peaceful communication is not the goal, is to damage friendship.
I had the same experience with a friend of mine in Cary, NC. when I went to visit. We had a nice lunch at “La Farm” and talked about a myriad of things, but it was when we were packing up and getting ready to go to our cars, that my friend decided to say “so I have to ask you, how can you possibly like anyone as horrible as Trump”.
Like the girl in California, this girl was not actually interesting in hearing my opinion, or having a mutually respectful discussion but instead she was interested in judging, labeling and paying homage to herself (virtue signaling), with such a comment, which actually caused me to stop calling her for lunch the past three times I have been in NC.
But it is not virtuous to abuse friendship and make it a platform for ones ignorance, or to believe in the power of man over “climate”…. which I believe instead is narcissistic and destructive.
For those who hold such strong beliefs about climate change, that they think these beliefs will “float” when there are holes aplenty in their “ship”, they might want to consider carefully if they should be setting sail. lol Seventy three men sailed…off into history…lol.
In a world which has existed for so many years before humans were even here, it is narcissistic for any humans to think that they can or should control volcano's, control when cows pass gas, or control how and when people should procreate or what they should eat.
The rest of the world is not disagreeing that climate is “dynamic” and that it can change and that there there have been many shifts over time, from drought to ice age to landslides to volcanic and seismic activity. But what people do seem to disagree on is HOW such shifts should be interpreted, with one group wanting to control and limit behaviors regarding population, resources and possibilities, while the other group removes restrictions and thinks expansively, in terms of population, resources and possibilities.
This optimism and trust in the availability of “supply” in spite of the seemingly insistent “dangerous” propaganda surrounding climate change, comes to the second group, I believe, with their understanding of God.
When humans think that PERSONALLY they are responsible for an entire planet and all its actions and consequences, they assume the role of a god and not only that, they are poorly equipped to manage such. It is in the letting go of control,(which happens when one believes in God) that allows humanity to relax, be individually motivated, and to thrive, while the uneducated and catastrophic thinking of the climate change group, immobilizes, divides and restricts.
Jesus taught us to love our neighbors. I do not think he was talking about “mother earth”. He was talking about humans. Every time there seemed to be lack, Jesus proved that we have endless supply. Supply is spiritually scientific and provable, only scientists have been unable to duplicate what Jesus did. But that does not mean that such miraculous occurrences are impossible or wrong. Every time there was seeming impossible human odds, Jesus provided healing and demonstrated a superiority to natural phenomenon.
He did this years ago, without trying to get people to stop eating meat (in fact he encouraged them to eat meat), and without giving any credence or credibility to the “laws of the land” at that time.
My bible verse for today was “let them alone they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. “ In the bible, Jesus went on to say that it is not unwashed hands that defile a man but that evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornication's, thefts, false witness, and blasphemies that defileth a man.
If something is good, it produces good fruit. And “limitations”, “restrictions”, “blame”, “manipulation”, and “hopelessness” are not the tools of the Godly. God has provided this planet with direction and those who follow it, will have what they need. Those who choose to be blind to what Jesus proved centuries ago, about the provision of supply, will indeed fall into the ditch.
Jesus showed us, with his life here on earth, that supply is not limited and that everything on this planet is subject to God and can be subdued by trusting God and communicating with God, including the sea, the food supply and even death. He told the Truth and demonstrated it. Anything any less than this is bearing false witness.
And I personally do not want to be in the ditches because ditches can become graves. To support this thought I rewrote a song I like and made it about climate.
