In love with “the other woman”
Have you ever thought about “what if there was a story of the prodigal daughter”? I mean, we all know about the son who went off and squandered his fathers blessings on “riotous living”, but I think we can all agree that there are women who also have earned the name “prodigal daughter” and are living on the fringes just like the son did.
I am grateful to believe that, like the prodigal son, the prodigal daughter can have a change of heart and can still receive forgiveness and the blessings of the father. That is when I realized that “I’m in love, with the other woman”.
“Wait” you might be thinking, “is she gay” is she having an extramarital relationship? (No she is not and no she is not) “What does this mean” you might wonder?
Well, I was listening to the radio and I heard a vintage song, called “the other woman” by Ron Parker Jr.
In the song, he admits to being in love with “the other woman”.
How many of us “ladies” have to own up to being “the other woman” in a married man’s relationship? Why are we are so quick to judge men who we think “take advantage of us”, when WE ourselves are quick to take advantage of other women every time we shamelessly lure a married man away from his family? Is that something to be proud of and can we be “in love” with ourselves after such behavior?
That is when I realized that “I AM in love with the OTHER woman”, and the other woman is still me, but it is the ME who is good, upright, pure and honest…the woman who has integrity and who can stand up for what is right in spite of a challenge and in spite of things not being fair. I’m in love with THAT WOMAN, who is the best version of ME. We can all be in love with THAT other woman, can’t we?
How many of us think that there is some person we cannot live without but that person is not meant for us because they are married to someone else or have character flaws that would do damage to our lives if we let them in. Whatever or whomever it is that we think we cannot live without is the very thing or person we have then allowed to have power over us. That is NO way to live.
Can we really “not live without” that person who is already married, or that bowl of ice cream, or that cup of coffee, or that drug? Are those things going to control us forever? My sister told me recently that I went through a period of my life where it seemed to her that I was “sewing my wild oats on steroids”. HMMMM glad she does not see me that way any more and I think it is because I discovered I LOVE the OTHER WOMAN better, the me who is good, kind, selfless and listens to God.
I re-wrote the song “the other woman” to give encouragement to women who, perhaps are finally coming home from being “the prodigal daughter” because just like the story in the bible, a change of heart can make the blessings that are waiting, available.
The other woman, rewrite to give it new meaning.
I’m in love, (yes really in love)
With the other woman (me).
My life was blind (life was blind)
Till Jesus blew my mind, Thank God
I’m just a regular girl
I left my home for one little whirl
Never thought I would fall into the pit
Never thought, some men are full of sh*t
Who would have guessed, with Jesus on the right
My every hot romance would fizzle in the night
MMMM well God did it to me
I prayed and fell in love
I’m in love, (yes really in love)
With the other woman (me).
My life was blind (life was blind)
Till Jesus blew my mind, Thank God
I know the holy bible book
I can read and know just where to look
I went there, when questions came around
I knew that good can still be found
If you pray, you know what it’s like
You are NOT a fool, to always do what’s right
You may hate to have to speak (and say no)
But it’s easier when its time to sleep OH
I’m in love, (yes really in love)
With the other woman (me).
My life was blind (life was blind)
Till Jesus blew my mind, Thank God
Oh this conversion is unique
All of my life, I have been a Jesus freak
He keeps me on the righteous path for so long
When I go out, I feel so very strong
Makes me want to grab my husband, and
Dance with him all night long oh
I’m in love, (yes really in love)
With the other woman (me).
My life was blind (life was blind)
Till Jesus blew my mind, Thank God
I’m in love, (yes really in love)
With the other woman (me).
My life was blind (life was blind)
Till Jesus blew my mind, Thank God
Has anybody ever fell in love,
with the other woman
oh
with the other woman (I have)
I'm in love
yes I am in love.
