In the movie Pollyanna, she is always playing “the glad game”. There are 430 references to joy, rejoice or joyful, and when I looked this up, I realized that there were only ten references to being “happy” or “happiness”.

To me, this means that happiness is not the “destination” but is a step towards the “destination” of having JOY or rejoicing.

If we are able to find something to be glad about, at some point we will eventually graduate to rejoicing.

Lissy as painted by Eevie

With this in mind, Eevie presented me with a painting she did of me.
The most obvious thing about this painting is the huge smile, mouth turning up on both sides to match the wild blond hair turning up on both sides. Haha Awesome!
She and her brother had painted this to music, and the happy classical music was supposed to inspire the kids as they painted.
I know I surely felt inspired looking at the finished product because I am “glad” that she sees me as happy, having fun and standing in the sunshine.
What a great way to be viewed by the innocent little ones in your life.
There will always be sad things in life that try to take our focus off of Rejoicing and being “glad”.

But instead of choosing to be sad, when sad things happened, Pollyanna, in the movie, chose to think about what made her glad and that included celebrating our country. She dressed up as part of the flag, and I have noticed that Eevie likes the flag equally as much, and constantly wants to hear the you-tube video “the star spangled banner as you have never heard it”.

So we were really GLAD when we found a flag shirt for her to wear, along with some shoes made by the people making the ski boots for TEAM USA. Interestingly this company can be found in Algeria which is funny to me because I do not think that there is skiing in Algeria. I would think that the BEST skiing equipment would be made where there is skiing. Like maybe in Austria…but I digress.

Khombu shoes lol

So she is wearing THE FLAG, living THE FLAG by being a good citizen, and learning about all the GOOD THINGS in our nation, and our history, recognizing that all peoples have made mistakes but we can, and should REJOICE in the good. I agree!
What a beautiful and glad way to start the day and live our lives.
