short story Vengeance

She tackled the morning with vengeance, working to accomplish a multitude of chores. She left on the screen and was walking by to see a …well “red”…screen shot.
It was a red sun, on a red sea. The sign, an image, could have meant that
she was “well read” as she had been reading quite a few books recently. But the idea of a red sea suddenly dawned on her like a newsflash.

Y, she knew, was apparently showing her that those who were the enemy were going to be removed from her. The story of the parting of the red sea had always fascinated her.

She thought back to how she had gotten information that there were subs headed her way…closing in…but the claim she posted in writing was that “she was clinging to the big boss like a barn” and her post included a picture of a barn.

The barn she was referring to, was in fact, actually a short term for barnacles, which were crustaceans which secreted a powerful glue and held on to the bottom of marine objects. If they were on the bottom of marine objects, then obviously they knew the location of those objects.

But to communicate, the image of barns was used instead by Y, because
Y also presented her with many pictures of barns in a PBS documentary about “vanishing structures”…. reinforcing the message from Y also about the red sea.
A great many of the pictures of what looked to her like barns were shown in photographs from the front as if to see the “soul within” as the soul is what animates and gives life.

If they were “vanishing” it was because they could not be seen physically… the same way those escaping in history, were “removed” from the clutches of those who would do them harm… and the photo was “evidence” of their reality or place in time.

Because of “the red sea” she would be hid, and the enemy would be destroyed. It would seem like she had “vanished” the way the barn structures were described as vanishing.

This was shown to her not once but three times, every time she went by the screen, it changed to show her the red sea.
She also read that those who were responsible for moving money to benefit leadership, while damaging the individuals interests, in contrast, were not hid… they were right there in current reports. Those loyal to evil in leadership, were going to have consequences.
The message from her big boss was this…
All the princes of the sea will descend from their thrones, remove their robes, and strip off their embroidered garments. Clothed with terror, they will sit on the ground, trembling every moment, appalled over you. Then they will lament for you, saying, “How you have perished, O city of renown inhabited by seafaring men — she who was powerful on the sea, along with her people, who imposed terror on all peoples! Now the coast lands tremble on the day of your downfall; the islands in the sea are dismayed by your demise.” ’…

She put down the message, and took a final gulp from her black and white elephant mug that had been full of milk and ovaltine. It was time to get to work.

It was good to have friends in high places.
