The world goes round
October 3 2025
There was a really good sandwich recipe that for sure was sent on a text. That was what Filly was looking for. She scrolled and she scrolled and she scrolled. She saw lots of good photos as she went down through the months. Great photos actually. These photos recorded things that happened in her world. Things that made the world turn as far as she was concerned.
Pyp ran up. They were at the park. She said look and then she ran away and jumped from a ledge on to the ground. She was proud to demonstrate her new skill. She was wearing a green and white flowered cotton shirt and a pink flowered skirt and pink cherry leggings and blue socks and flowers in her hair. She looked like an ad for Hannah Anderson. Then she took her yellow car and said “bye bye yellow car” and pushed it far out of sight and laughed.
Filly watched for a moment and then went back to the photos on the Text messaging. There was the fence that her sister had a sudden burst of flowers grow forth that delighted her. And there were the flowers that she had planted in the flower box that were airy and colorful. And there were the gardenias that were fragrant and perfectly pale white delicate petals in a beautiful vase.
The world of flowers were things most of her family enjoyed. Her son and his wife even wrote a book about flowers. “These flowers are for you” and the illustrations his wife painted.
She still had not found the recipe. She kept scrolling. There was her sisters back deck with the seat cushions she had made by hand. Filly loved the photo.
Then she had to stop scrolling, leave the park, and go to the house to get money because Pyp wanted to go to McDonald’s, which she did. Then once at McDonald’s, armed with the happy meal and her stuffed bear, Pyp was content and Filly could keep looking for the recipe.
More photos, these were of one of the second cousins, one who Filly loved his personality. His blond hair blue eyes were stunning and he was a pistol Pete. One with him at the beach and one with him at the church. A kid for all seasons. lol.
Then one of HIS cousin, who was beautiful in his hand made outfit.
And another church picture of a little girl who was friends with her sister, receiving her first holy communion.
Those kids made the world go round for sure.
And the clothes they wore, chosen by the parents, were thoughtful and meaningful.
There was a photo of the dress her sister had been working on for days to hand smock it during her vacation. Beautiful handiwork. The pattern for the mother goose and the humpty dumpty that Filly’s mom had made by hand that she found online that she was hoping to sew herself.
And the beautiful tables she had set, using the baby blue bird plates from her sister in law and the hand painted glasses from her sister in the heading photo. Those made her table go round. And on the outdoor table, an old coke bottle holder painted and filled with small succulents and surrounded by angels.
There were pictures of bigger projects like the large wall painting that Filly had painted with help from her kids for her daughters kitchen. To put it on the wall had taken a group effort, and ladders and Styrofoam. Her sister had wanted her to send a photo of it because they were trying to create an Italian style room for a church event using fabric and paint.
And the project of the kids playhouse that Filly got workers to help put on stilts to make it more like a tree house, which the kids loved.
Some of the pictures of Pyp were with things she loved like sunglasses and sparkle things.
And there were pictures of the whole family after church going to breaky.
One of her mom and sister on the porch when she had been there on one of her trips and one of her daughter reading books to her girls at the bookstore near her moms …All this on just one collection from several months of text messages which she never erased. They brought back stories she loved and things she enjoyed seeing and never got tired of.
And then she found the recipe. A meatball sandwich. She and her sister talked about recipes all the time. This one was a winner. YES.
