Watching Weight

I want to say that my daughter, my sister and I have all started using weight watchers and I have to say it has been very helpful in restructuring our eating habits. My sister has lost forty four pounds and I have lost about eight. My daughter has lost twenty pounds. All of us are grateful for the way that this eating program is moderate and allows for individual preferences, and even acknowledges and allows access to food cravings in small portions, offering substitute item suggestions as well.

Over time my eating choices have become less and less balanced and have included too much sugar. With the way Weight Watchers assigns points, it helps “teach” which foods are more desirable and which need to be limited. But no food is completely eliminated which I appreciate.

My “free food” choices are eggs, chicken and oatmeal. I have found that I really like the pre packaged steel cut oats, and use this choice in the evening to keep me full at night so I do not wake up hungry. I like how this program really encourages water consumption and rewards for eating salads. I am feeling much better about how my clothes are fitting and exercise is easier and less stress on my body when I am carrying less weight.

I learned that success comes when all food choices are recorded as even bites and tastes of high fat or high sugar foods, can add significant points. When I know ahead of time that a certain food is going to “cost” me a lot of points, it is much easier to avoid it.

It is a bit more difficult to follow when traveling, however.
So, my point allotment is 21 points. The first day on vacation, I went to Jersey mikes and got a small roast beef sub and it was like more points than my entire points for the day. I had already eaten the sandwich, which was not fun for me because I could only eat bananas and apples the rest of the day. (fruit and veggies are free always). But who wants to just eat fruit and veggies…not me. It took a while for me to adjust…

Another thing, chocolate covered almonds, one piece was one point which was not fun to see as I love these. I was at The Biltmore with my daughter in law Heather, who was doing live wedding painting, and we were at the restaurant, and I ordered Cranberry juice cocktail as I thought it would be low points and my app was not working at that location. So when I found out it was NINE points for that small glass of juice I was amazed.
The sugar free juices are the ones that are low points.
Also, another day when traveling I wanted to try a frozen yogurt acaii bowl as well and while the regular frozen yogurt was free, the coconut frozen yogurt was nine points…Thank you Heather for making me look up the points lol. So I have learned to be careful about what is free and not free. We love everything free in my family.
It also took me a while to realize that the serving size can be adjusted to be accurate for what I am eating which then automatically adjusts the points.
I also like that this eating plan has been easy to follow and is relatively in-expensive and best of all does not require the purchase of special foods or drinks. Thank you Weight Watchers program for being helpful and useful and helping us achieve success.
